I admit it: I am a decorating junkie. I read dozens of design blogs every week, “Like” way too many design-related Facebook pages, and have a stack of decorating magazines on my coffee table. And because I know that there will be decorating junkies on my site, I’m going to share the love and let you in on my favorites.
Paint Companies
Benjamin Moore – What don’t I love about Benjamin Moore (ok, maybe the price!)? Seriously though, this is the best paint I’ve ever used. I completely “heart” the Aura paint, even if it does run $60 a gallon. Goes on like a dream, cleans up easily and wears like nothing I’ve ever used before (even touches up completely undetected). If it’s possible to be in love with paint, I’m completely and utterly hooked. And even though I want you to hire me to help you choose your paint colors, Ben gives you great tools to help you do just that!
PPG Pittsburgh Paints – PPG is the largest paint company in the world between their paint and commercial coatings brands. They have a huge selection of colors and I really like the paint. The middle of the road product, Manor Hall Interior, goes on really well, cleans up easily and is very durable. If $60 a gallon scares you off, this is a good second choice at about $35-$40 a gallon.
Mythic Paint – Claiming to have the only zero VOC paint line (including colorants), Mythic Paint has 1200 gorgeous colors. I haven’t used it but I’m looking forward to it on my next project. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Valspar – This is my Big Box store, go to paint. Good price, good paint, good durability. I like it. The last time I was on their site, they had a coupon for a free sample and a $5 off coupon. Definitely worth trying them out if you don’t have access to the specialty paint brands.
National Chains
Pottery Barn & Pottery Barn Kids-this is my go to place when looking for quick updates and ways to organize everyday items in interesting ways. Plus, they always have pretty fabrics for pillows, curtains and bedding.
Ballard Designs-I look forward to getting the Ballard Design catalog to see what new things they’re doing with everyday items. Plus, I like that they aren’t really expensive and have something for every area of your home.
Ethan Allen-Not your mom’s Ethan Allen, today’s EA is sleek and traditional all at the same time. Check out their What’s My Style quiz to help you identify your style.
Restoration Hardware-Lately RH has been a little subdued in their color schemes but I still like them. They always find ways to reuse architectural artifacts in new and clever ways.
Garnet Hill-Beautiful linens and rugs, and small accessories, I look forward to getting their catalogs in the mail! Plus, they have cute clothes!
Land of Nod-There isn’t anything not to love about Land of Nod. Funky, cute and hip decor for your little hipsters.
