Small Projects

All spiffed up with a new sassy coat of paint and new (old) fabric.

I’m a busy body. I “wake” up at 9:00pm and start working on projects or cleaning. It drives my poor morning-person husband nuts. Here are some of the things that keep me up at night.

Farmhouse Bathroom Renovation

Farmhouse Bathroom Before Renovation

The farmhouse bathroom renovation was done in stages, to accommodate a tight budget. The mismatched shower/tub surround were replaced first due to a large crack in the tub. The new shower was installed with gorgeous subway tile and farmhouse fixtures. Later, the rest of the bathroom was gutted.  The floor received a heated, black and white hexagon floor, custom-milled beadboard wall treatment, custom made vanity (from the old pine floor boards) with distressed finish and Pietra Cardosa granite with lots of historically appropriate colors and touches.

Farmhouse Master Bedroom Makeover

Master Bedroom Renovation After Photo

This bedroom screamed 1980 with its pine windows, pine doors, peachy-colored (smelly) carpet, and dirty, drab white walls.

Splurges included Dupioni silk curtains and new linens from Pottery Barn (all on sales but still expensive). Savings were from Target curtain rods and lamps, which I “antiqued” myself, lampshades on clearance at Pottery Barn, and antique and other pieces scavenged from other rooms. Floors are antique wide plank pine flooring purchased from Craigslist from several local house.

Still to come – new floor to ceiling windows and new replicated window trim from the main house, circa 1800.
